Pump Runtime Calculator

The Pump Runtime calculator tells you how long your pump needs to run each day to fully cycle all of your pool water through the filter. Enter your pool volume and your pump's flow rate, and FlowBeacon calculates the required run time for any number of turnovers.

The Formula

note

The formula below needs to be verified against the app — it may not match what FlowBeacon is currently calculating.

GPH = GPM × 60

Run Time (hours) = (Pool Volume × Turnovers) ÷ GPH

Your pump's flow rate is entered in gallons per minute (GPM), which is first converted to gallons per hour (GPH). That hourly rate is then used to calculate how many hours the pump must run to complete the selected number of turnovers.

Inputs

  • Pool Volume — The total volume of your pool in gallons
  • Flow Rate (GPM) — Your pump's flow rate in gallons per minute

Turnovers

The calculator returns the required run time for multiple turnover targets in a single result, so you can see at a glance how long it takes to cycle your water once, twice, or more times per day.
